Pagod na pagod ka na ba? Kaya mo pa ba? Susuko ka na ba?
We all have those difficult moments. Sometimes we are overwhelmed by a misfortune that causes us to worry so much. At other times, we are so devastated by some tragedies in life that make us want to give up. Now and then, the stress of daily life weighs heavily on us that makes life miserable for us and for people around us.
But whatever the situation may be, Jesus comes to us today to comfort us and to reassure us. To all of us, Jesus says these consoling words: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest! ̈ (Mt 11, 28)
When life seems tough, we need these comforting words of Jesus. Firstly, he tells us: “Come to me!” Jesus invites us, and he says these words with so much care and concern. This is an invitation that comes with so much love and tenderness. Come to me with trust and confidence, without fear and hesitation, and I will give you rest.
Secondly, Jesus tells us: “Learn from me…” When we look at Jesus on the cross, we realize that we have so many things to learn from him. He himself suffered so much. And thirdly, Jesus tells us: “My yoke is easy, and my burden light!” Will Jesus now make life so easy for us? Will Jesus now remove all the pains and sadness in our life?
That is not the case. The presence of Jesus in our life makes all the difference. He will give us strength to carry the burdens of life, the wisdom to understand, the peace of mind, and the joy in our hearts. The love that Jesus has for us is so much stronger than any grief, loss, or tragedy that may befall anyone at any time.
