Tuesday 2nd Week of Advent
This very short parable has three things to tell us. One is about who God is: God is extremely caring and totally loving, that he will go out of his way to look for us wherever and whenever we go astray. No matter how hopelessly far we wander he will come and search for us.
Second is who we are. For a God who will leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search for us, reveals how precious we are in his sight. Whereas he allows us at time to wallow in the darkness and sin, we need only to say, “Lord, save us,” and in the wink of an eye, he will grasp our hands and embrace us.
Third, as children of an infinitely loving God, we too should be on the lookout and help bring back the lost among the brethren, be it through prayer or actions.
