Gospel Reflection by Fr Arnold Biago SVD
Wednesday 2nd Week of Advent
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Mt 11, 28) This gentle word of Jesus inspire me and others who feel burned by so many worries, difficulties, problems and challenges sorrounding us daily.
Here, Jesus speaks cleary of his real real consoling presence. Jesus lets me know that he is not only aware of my problems and anxieties but is there to accompany me in my journey and provide me with strength and courage I badly need to see opportunities and achive success in my life endeavors.
Now, Jesus adds, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me…” ( Mt 11, 29) to emphasize that He is in truth present with us. Indeed, he is the “Emmanuel”, God with us, whose birth we prepare to commerate on Christmas.
I am not alone in carrying the yoke of my responsibilities for my family. I am not alone in my struggles to finish my studies or finish the project my work demands of me and my team. I am not alone in my dream for a better community and a progressive country.
Thank you Lord Jesus, now I see what you mean when you said: “For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” There are two of us carrying the load. Jesus you are with me.
