Miracle : From Little to More Than Enough

Friday 2nd Week of Easter

Introduction

An old rabbinic tale tells of a rabbi who showed his young friend both a window and a mirror. Through the window, the boy saw children playing. Through the mirror, he saw only himself. “Isn’t it strange,” the rabbi said, “that when a little silver gets between yourself and others, you see only yourself?” Greed and selfishness blind us to others.

The Gospel Lesson

In today’s Gospel (John 6:1–15), a boy offered five barley loaves and two fish. Andrew remarked: “What good are these for so many?” (John 6:9). Yet Jesus took the little offering, blessed it, and fed thousands. The miracle of abundance happened because there was one willing to share.

The Power of Generosity

Jesus teaches us to re-learn the value of sharing. He invites us to participate, to give what we can, and He will do the rest. As St. Paul reminds us: “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). Even the smallest gift, when offered in love, becomes more than enough in God’s hands.

Reflection Questions

  • Do I allow “silver” — wealth, selfishness, pride — to block my view of others?
  • Do I believe that God can multiply even my small acts of generosity?
  • Am I willing to share, trusting that miracles happen when I give?

Conclusion

We should never say we have too little to offer. God can make miracles out of our smallness. When we share, we discover that love multiplies, and what seems insufficient becomes more than enough for everyone.

“Lord, teach me to share generously, trusting You to make my little more than enough.”
