Titular feast of the Society of the Divine Word

The Incarnate Divine Word is recognized as the titular of the Society of the Divine Word. Although in the liturgy there exists no particular feast of the Verbum Incarnatum, the entire liturgical year can be seen as a progressive unfolding and celebration of the Word Incarnate. However, to focus particular attention on the Divine Word, the Society turns to the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.

The celebration of the Annunciation of the Lord brings to mind that “the Divine Word was made flesh, endowing every human being with dignity and offering all the promise of abundant life” (Constitution 405). Liturgically the Annunciation is a Christological feast; its focus is secondarily Marian.
