Christ Restores the Communication Line

The WORD in other words (2006) by Frater Jonathan Letada SVD – Divine Word Seminary of Tagaytay

Friday 4th Week of Easter

A wartime story tells of a vital communication line between a division and its headquarters that was cut by enemy fire. Only one signalman was available to repair it. He went out, found the break, and reconnected the line. Messages began to flow again. But an hour later, he had not returned. A search party found him lying beside the line, holding the two broken ends together with his hands. A shell wound over his heart had caused him to bleed to death.

Christ came, died, and rose again to restore our broken communication line with God. Through Him, the signals of grace and prayer flow once more. The messages are alive again. Jesus declares: “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). He exhorts us to have faith in Him.

Faith enables us to cling to Jesus:

  • He is the WAY in our journey to encounter God.
  • He is the TRUTH that answers our deepest questions and longings.
  • He is the LIFE when our spirits dry and wither.

Faith is a force of grace that makes us steadfast and hopeful. Fear has no room in our hearts because the Risen Christ is with us. He gives life. He strengthens our hope. He makes our faith alive.

Just as the signalman gave his life to restore communication, Jesus gave His life to reconnect us with the Father. Let us hold firmly to Him, our Way, Truth, and Life, and keep the line of faith open and strong.

“Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith, that I may remain connected to You always.”
