To welcome God

The WORD in other words (2006) by Fr Atilano Corcuera SVD – Palawan

Saturday 2nd Week of Advent

Clement Stone wrote, “There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.”

The people who did not recognize the coming of Elijah through John the Baptist had a closed attitude. They would only accept an Elijah, and a Messiah for that matter, under their own terms and according to their concept of a prophet and messiah. A god according to their image is okay.

But someone riding on an ass and preaching a kingdom of forgiveness, peace, humility, unity and love is another matter. Not on those terms! And anybody who preaches  “spurious” doctrines should be eliminated.

Advent season is a time to have an attitude check up. Am I ready to welcome a God in his own terms? Am I willing to follow a God who will effect a change in my ways and will draw out the potentials within me? Will I kneel before an infant whose shadow resembles a cross?
