Easter Vigil – Triduum Paschał
I take vacations to be amazed. That for me is the most important. The ambiance, new experience, and pleasant company are reasons enough to go on a vacation.
In a way, the resurrection story is an assurance of our coming vacation in heaven. Imagine Mary Magdalene announcing to the disciples we are going on a vacation!
Easter is truly vacation time. It is the time, not only to celebrate the victory of Jesus over death, despair, and evil but also the fulfillment of all promises made. Jesus comes to us now in reality, a living presence among us. Easter reminds us that Jesus is the reason for our “vacation” right here, right now. The new ambiance and new experience of liberation from sin and death but more importantly, the eternal presence of the risen Lord is now gifted to us.
Do we also bring about “vacations” in other people’s lives? Do they rejoice when they see us, or do they hide from us? What message do we bring?
The power of the resurrection is most important at the darkest times. And we have been empowered to bring about the liberating reality of the resurrection. Let us truly give thanks and praise!
