Who is Jesus?

The WORD in other words (2018) by Fr Samuel Clarin SVD – Holy Name University, Tagbilaran City

Monday 3rd Week of Lent

Two things came into my mind as I reflected on today’s gospel reading.

First, our God is a universal God. He is not only the God of the chosen people of Israel. He is not only a God for the Jews but He is also the God of the Gentiles. He is the God of and for all.

The stories of Elijah and Elisha in the Old Testament referred to in Luke 4, 25-27 are proofs to let the people of Nazareth understand and open their myopic eyes.

Second, it is so unfortunate that Jesus’ own people failed to accept and recognize Jesus and even plotted to kill him because of their prejudices. What a missed opportunity!

Who is Jesus really in my life? Do I recognize Him working in other people?
