The WORD in other words (2022) by Fr Eusebio Manangbao SVD – Sabangan, Mountain Province
Saturday 26th Week in Ordinary Time
In my former parish in Tanzania, East Africa, in the land of the Maasai tribe, which is called Simanjiro, water supply is always the big challenge. The area is semi-arid, and so it is dry almost the whole year. Rain is also a scarcity. And when it rains, the raindrops are life-giving, an answered prayer.
Through financial assistance from friends in Ireland, from the Parish of Athenry in County Galway, a water borehole was dug, and sweet drinking water was available and became a daily source of joy and gladness for the local people.
What makes you rejoice? The answer depends on your true-to-life experiences. Such experiences manifest God’s grace and power working in us and enable us to do beautiful things. When a good work is done, it is natural or normal for us to feel good and ever grateful.
Through the testimony of words and deeds, I continue preparing the way for Jesus so that those who have yet to encounter him effectively will do so. It is in the sharing of our gifts that others are healed, and thus, our way to salvation as well.
