The WORD in other words (2009) by Fr George Britos SVD – Christ the King Seminary, Quezon City
Thursday 2nd Week of Lent
The Gospel for today teaches us to put our trust in God all the days of our life. Why? The Gospel tells us that the Lord searches our hearts, probes our minds and gives us what our conduct and actions deserve.
The challenge then for us is to make the Lord the center of our life; our companion to our life’s journey. And when Jesus becomes the center of our life, we put our trust in Him, our only hope. Let us not lean on our own understanding.
Emery Nester has this relevant story: “A man was walking in the wilderness. He became lost and was unable to find his way out. Another man met him, ‘Sir, I am lost, can you show me the way out of this wilderness?’ ‘No.’ said the stranger, ‘I cannot show you the way out of the wilderness, but maybe if I walk with you, we can find it together.”
Yes, the Lord being the center of our life, will give us the light for what we long for in this life. Let us allow Him to journey with us. After all, He is the way, the truth, and the life. All we need to do is to trust Him.
It is when we put our trust in Him that He will always direct, correct, protect, and even inspect us. And we put our trust in Him that He may lead us to a perfect life. At the end we may have joyful living, doing what is right and giving light to others. Amen.
