Proclaim God’s Blessings

The WORD in other words (2022) by Fr Sedrey Nebres SVD – Sacred Heart Parish, Quezon City

Thursday 1st Week in Ordinary Time

Have you had that experience when something you have been longing for just got fulfilled or, if it is a prayer, got answered? Or that feeling of longing to tell people something you have achieved after working on it for a long time.

The paralytic in today’s Gospel reading probably also had a similar feeling at that very moment when Jesus changed everything for the better in his life by healing him.His story could also be a mirror of our own story. That journey from the road called longing to that of fulfillment. The beauty of his experience lies not only at the moment of healing but also in how he took it after going through the experience.

Though warned by Jesus to keep his experience a secret, I couldn’t help but relate to the inexplicable joy he was going through, a joy that is too great to keep within one’s heart. It was an experience that deserved to be proclaimed.

God has been good to you and me. And for sure he has worked miracles in your life. The little and big blessings he has worked for us deserve to be proclaimed. And like the healed paralytic, it will be a testament to our witness to God’s great love.
