The WORD in other words (2006) by Frater Felmar Fiel SVD – Divine Word Seminary of Tagaytay
Thursday 2nd Week of Easter
Introduction
In courtrooms, star witnesses are called to testify. Their words carry weight because they claim to have seen and heard what others did not. Yet Jesus is more than a star witness. His testimony is not that of an outsider but of One who comes directly from the Father. He is not merely reporting; He is revealing. As John’s Gospel declares: “The one whom God has sent speaks the words of God” (John 3:34).
Jesus’ Testimony of Life
Jesus is the Word of the Father (John 1:1). He does not simply tell us about God — He embodies God’s message. His testimony is clear: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life” (John 3:36). Unlike human witnesses who can only recount events, Jesus offers life itself.
The Search for Life
Many today feel empty, searching for meaning in possessions, success, or pleasure. Yet these pursuits often leave us restless. Jesus says: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). He is not one option among many; He is the source of true life.
Our Response
To find life, we must:
- Look at Jesus — fix our eyes on Him, not on passing distractions.
- Think about Him — let His Word shape our thoughts and decisions.
- Follow Him — obey His commands, even when difficult.
- Receive Him — welcome Him into our hearts daily, especially through the sacraments.
Conclusion
Jesus is more than a witness; He is the living Word, the giver of eternal life. Let us believe in Him, follow Him, and receive Him, so that our testimony may also proclaim: “The Lord is risen indeed” (Luke 24:34).
“Lord Jesus, You are the way, the truth, and the life. Help me to live by Your Word.”
