Tuesday 334th Week in Ordinary Time
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome insights and mighty signs will come from the sky.” (Luke 21,10-11)
Many of our brothers and sisters misinterpreted this verses. As a result, they sold everything they own, left their family and career and joined religious sects and cults that proclaim this bad news. Some of them ended their lives as they joined their community in suicide. Others, until now, are still waiting for this end time to happen, and while waiting they serve their leaders for free with the hope that at the end time they will be saved by them. Few realized it was all hoax and left the community.
The next time you hear people coming into your door and start proclaiming this bad news, stand firm and tell them straight to their eyes that only God knows when the time ends. He assures us in this Gospel saying, “Do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.” (Luke 21,9)
These things, as this verse tells us, are wake-up calls for us to re-align our lives to Christ’s teachings. And we should not wait until these wake-up calls happen before we change our lives. Let us begin today and be good followers to the true prophet, Jesus the Christ!
