The WORD in other words (2014) by F Jerry Orbos SVD – Christ the King Seminary, Quezon City
Monday 25th Week in Ordinary Time
Did you hear the story about a man who met an accident? It was a bad one. I heard that he lost his left leg and his left arm. I heard he is in the hospital, and I heard that he’s all right now!
In today’s Gospel, the Lord tells us to follow the path of righteousness and honesty, and we’ll be all right! The source of true peace is honesty. A person who is honest can face anything or anyone without rear.
Below are two powerful Filipino sayings:
“Mabuti pa ang tanghali… tapat”. (Tanghaling tapat!)
“Ang taong mapagkunwari, kinakabahan palagi.”
The game of lying, cheating, stealing, pretending, denying is a losing game. The bottom line is that we try to live an honest and righteous life as much as we can, as long as we can!
Remember, the heart speaks to another heart. “Cor ad cor loquitor.” People have a sixth sense, and they know whether we are just saying it, or just faking it. With so much dishonesty around us, please take heart. Courage! God knows. God does not sleep. There is someone watching over us. And there is a
final reckoning in the end.
Take the road of honesty and righteousness. That is the road to take. That is the road that is okey. Okey ngarud!
