The IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force), in one of its meetings, proposed to hire or deputize “tsismosas” or rumormongers to help in contact tracing for suspected Covid-19 cases. But is the information they generate reliable and believable?
Mary Magdalene was “deputized” by the Lord himself. The news she carried was the most important news of the time: The Lord is risen! However, doubts still ruled the day. I believe it was not because the apostles did not believe, but Mary Magdalene was not that credible to them. Why choose Mary, not Peter or one of the other apostles?
The same is true today. Momentous news must be borne by “important” people. We hear big news and expect important people to announce them. Do we trust news from “little” people? I believe that is part of the message of our Lord. Faith makes us believe that ultimately the Lord is the bearer of good news!
